(From the author's abstract) In the case of clamped thermoelastic systems with interior point control defined on a bounded domain \(\Omega\), the critical case is \(n=\dim~\Omega =2\). Indeed, an optimal interior regularity theory was obtained in [\textit{R. Triggiani}, Discrete Contin. Dyn. Syst. 2007, Suppl., 993--1004 (2007; Zbl 1163.93349)] for \(n=1\) and \(n=3\). However, in this reference, an \(\epsilon\)-loss of interior regularity has occurred due to a peculiar pathology: the incompatibility of the boundary conditions of the spaces \(H_{0}^{\frac{3}{2}}(\Omega)\) and \(H_{00}^{\frac{3}{2}}(\Omega)\). The present paper manages to establish that, indeed, one can take \(\epsilon=0\), thus obtained an optimal interior regularity theory also for the case \(n=2\).
