The authors study the spectrum and the rank of a linear combination of two orthogonal projectors. They characterize when the linear combination is EP, diagonalizable, idempotent, tripotent, involutive, nilpotent, generalized projector, and hypergeneralized projector. They also derive the Moore-Penrose inverse of a linear combination of two orthogonal projectors in a particular case. The main tool used is the CS decomposition [for a survey, see \textit{C. C. Paige} and \textit{M. Wei}, Linear Algebra Appl. 208--209, 303--326 (1994; Zbl 0854.15002)].
