In this paper the author studies the construction and non vanishing of cuspidal modular forms of weight \(m \geq 3\) for arbitrary Fuchsian groups of the first kind. He gives a general construction of modular forms and one of his main results gives a spanning set for the space of cuspidal modular forms \(S_m(\Gamma)\) of weight \(m \geq 3\) in a uniform way which does not depend on the fact that \(\Gamma\) has cusps or not; he relates this result to the classical situation. Moreover the author writes down a non-vanishing criterion for the series introduced in his main result and he gives an application of this criterion.
