This paper provides a categorification of the \(SO(3)\) Birman-Murakami-Wenzl (BMW) algebra, and of the chromatic algebra of \textit{P. Fendley} and \textit{V. Krushkal} [Adv. Theor. Math. Phys. 14, No. 2, 507--540 (2010; Zbl 1207.82007)]. These give rise to categorifications of the \(SO(3)\) Kauffman polynomial, and the chromatic polynomial of planar graphs, respectively. The \(SO(3)\) BMW and chromatic algebras can be constructed using the second Jones-Wenzl projector in the Temperly-Lieb algebra. The categorifications of the \(SO(3)\) BMW and chromatic algebras are obtained through \textit{D. Bar-Natan}'s graphical formulation [Geom. Topol. 9, 1443--1499 (2005; Zbl 1084.57011)] of \textit{M. Khovanov}'s categorification of the Temperly-Lieb algebra [Algebr. Geom. Topol. 2, 665--741 (2002; Zbl 1002.57006)]. The paper includes a number of calculations of homologies of knots and spin networks; observations on the structure of the space of morphisms; and the calculations of the chromatic homologies of trees and generalized \(\theta\)-graphs. It should be noted that the construction of the categorification of the chromatic polynomial presented here differs from the previous categorifications of the chromatic polynomial due to \textit{L. Helme-Guizon} and \textit{Y. Rong} [Algebr. Geom. Topol. 5, 1365--1388 (2005; Zbl 1081.05034)], \textit{M. Stošić} [Fundam. Math. 190, 231--243 (2006; Zbl 1102.57009)], and \textit{M. Loebl} and \textit{I. Moffatt} [Adv. Math. 217, No. 4, 1558--1587 (2008; Zbl 1131.05036)].
