Let \(k\) be an arbitrary field, \(H\) be an algebraic group scheme over \(k\) acting on a commutative unique factorial domain \(A\) which is a \(k\)-algebra. In this article, the author studies the property of unique factorisation for the submonoids of invariants and semi-invariants. More specifically, it is shown that, under certain conditions, the monoid of nonzero \(H\)-stable principal ideals in \(A\) satisfies the unique factorisation property. This allows the author to give results on the structure of the monoid of semi-invariants and the algebra of invariants. The first section describes some results about the algebra of distributions. The results hold for for a field \(k\) of arbitrary characteristic.
