This paper consists of two useful results. Firstly the author calculates the connective real \(K\)-theory of the mod-2 Brown-Gitler spectrum and secondly the author determines the mod-2 homology of the spaces in the connective \(\Omega\)-spectrum for topological real \(K\)-theory. Plenty of details are given, as are a number of helpful diagrams. The first calculation is performed by showing that the Adams spectral sequence for \(ko_\ast(BO(2n))\) collapses at the \(E_2\) stage. The notation of the paper is such that \(B(0)\) is the 2-complete sphere spectrum and \(B(2)\) is the mod 2 Moore spectrum, rather than the alternative half-integer notation. Since \(B(2n) \simeq B(2n+1)\), the result is completed. The second part of the paper is performed using Goerss' isomorphism between a Hopf ring and its Dieudonné ring. These methods show that \(ko_\ast(BO(2n))\) is isomorphic to \(H_{2n} (\underline{ko}_*)\). For the odd case, there is a surjection \(ko_\ast(BO(2n+1)) \to H_{2n+1} (\underline{ko}_*)\). It follows that \(H_{2n+1} (\underline{ko}_*)\) is determined up to the kernel of the homology suspension \(H_{2n} (\underline{ko}_k) \to H_{2n+1} (\underline{ko}_{k+1})\).
