The paper studies properties of entanglement measures, focusing on squashed entanglement. Squashed entanglement is particularly important because it is the minimum rate of a communication protocol with arbitrary quantum side information at which a quantum state can be redistributed among two parties. The main results are improved lower bounds for squashed entanglement in terms of the relative entropy of one-way LOCC (i.e., local operations and one-way classical communication).
