Let \(X\) be a compact complex manifold of complex dimension \(n\), and let \(\pi:\tilde{X}\to X\) be the blowup of a point \(p\in X\). An old result of \textit{A. Blanchard} [Ann. Sci. Éc. Norm. Supér., III. Sér. 73, 157--202 (1956; Zbl 0073.37503)] shows that if \(X\) admits a Kähler metric then so does \(\tilde{X}\). More generally, we say that a Hermitian metric \(\omega\) on \(X\) is balanced (or semi-Kähler) if \(d(\omega^{n-1})=0\). In this case it is still true that \(\tilde{X}\) admits a balanced metric, as shown by \textit{M. L. Michelsohn} [Acta Math. 149, 261--295 (1982; Zbl 0531.53053)]. A Hermitian metric \(\omega\) on \(X\) is called locally conformally Kähler (lcK) if there exist an open covering \(\{U_i\}\) of \(X\) and smooth functions \(f_i\) on \(U_i\) such that the conformal metric \(e^{f_i}\omega\) on \(U_i\) is Kähler, for all \(i\). \textit{F. Tricerri} [Rend. Sem. Mat., Torino 40, No. 1, 81--92 (1982; Zbl 0511.53068)] proved that if \(X\) is lcK then so is \(\tilde{X}\) (see also \textit{V. Vuletescu} [Bull. Math. Soc. Sci. Math. Roum., Nouv. Sér. 52(100), No. 3, 387--390 (2009; Zbl 1199.53142)] for complements). The authors of the paper under review consider the condition that \(\omega\) is locally conformally balanced, which is defined in the obvious way. Their main result is that if \(X\) is locally conformally balanced, then so is \(\tilde{X}\).
