    Let \((R, \mathfrak{m}, k)\) be a commutative Noetherian local ring with maximal ideal \(\mathfrak{m}\) and residue field \(k\), and let \(M\) be a finitely generated \(R\)-module. The purpose of this paper is to investigate properties of \(M\) such as linearity defect, Koszulness and regularity by means of the structure of the associated graded module \(\,\text{Gr}_\mathcal{F}(M)\,\) to \(M\) with respect to an \(\mathfrak m\)-stable filtration \(\mathcal F\) of \(M\). The authors also present a partial answer to a question posed in [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 201, No. 1--3, 154--188 (2005; Zbl 1106.13011)] by \textit{J. Herzog} and \textit{S. Iyengar} asking whether Id\(_R(k)< \infty\) implies that \(R\) is Koszul.
