Let \(p>1\), \(q>1\), \(\delta>0\), and \(R>0\) and consider a nonnegative solution \((u,v)\) to the reaction-diffusion system \[ \begin{align*}{ \partial_t u - \delta \Delta u & = v^p \;\;\text{ in }\;\; B(0,R)\times (0,T)\ , \cr \partial_t v - \Delta v & = u^q \;\;\text{ in }\;\; B(0,R) \times (0,T)\ , }\end{align*} \] supplemented with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions and initial data which are nonnegative, bounded, and radially symmetric and nonincreasing. Assuming that \((u,v)\) blows up at a finite time \(T\) in \(L^\infty(\Omega;\mathbb{R}^2)\) it is shown that the blow-up set is reduced to the single point \(x=0\). Similar results were obtained previously but required stronger assumptions either on the parameters \(p\), \(q\), and \(\delta\) or an \textit{a priori} knowledge on the blow-up rate. In addition, more general nonlinearities than \((v^q,u^p)\) can be handled. Pointwise lower estimates are also obtained for solutions which are monotone with respect to time. The proof relies on maximum principles arguments and the use of self-similar changes of variable.
