Karatsuba} conjectured a problem for giving lower bounds for the Riemann zeta-function \(\zeta(s)\), \(s=\sigma+it\), on short intervals of the critical line. In this paper, the author considers two lower bounds for the function \(\zeta(s)\). The first result deals with \(0<\Delta<\frac{1}{2}\), where \(\Delta:=\Delta(T)\) as \(T \to \infty\). Then it is proved that, for \(H>1\), \[ \bigg|\zeta\bigg(\frac{1}{2}+it\bigg)\bigg|\geq \bigg(\frac{\Delta}{H}\bigg)^{\log T}\exp\big((-29+\log 3+o(1))\log t\big), \] with all \(t \in [T,T+H]\) except for a set of measure \(\frac{\Delta}{H}\). The second result of the paper shows that, if \(\Delta \log T \geq 2\), then, for some constant \(c\) and every function \(\Phi(T)\to \infty\) as \(T \to \infty\), \[ \max\limits_{y \in [t, t+\Delta]}\log\bigg|\zeta\bigg(\frac{1}{2}+iy\bigg)\bigg|\geq -c\big( \log T+\Phi(T)\log(\Delta \log T)\Delta^{-1-\frac{1}{\log (\Delta \log T)}} \big) \] with all \(t \in [T,2T]\) except for a set of measure \(o(T)\).
