On stability of the general linear equation (Q5964967): Difference between revisions

Let \(X\) be a linear space, \(Y\) a normed space (both over the field \(F \in \{ \mathbb {R,C}\})\) and \(f:X\to Y\) be a mapping. In this paper, the authors provide a criterion for the stability of the equation \[ \sum_{i=1}^m A_if\left( \sum_{j=1}^na_{ij}x_j\right)+A=0, \] where \(A, a_{ij} \in \mathbb F\), \(A_i \in \mathbb F - \{0\}\), \(i \in \{1,\dots , m\}\), \(j \in \{1,\dots , n\}\). It implies lots of the well-known and recent results concerning particular cases of this functional equation. They also describe a method of determining whether a functional equation of linear type is stable.
