In their recent work [Rev. R. Acad. Cienc. Exactas Fís. Nat., Ser. A Mat., RACSAM 110, No. 1, 285--302 (2016; Zbl 1350.46034)], \textit{D. Pellegrino} et al. introduced a new class of multilinear operators, namely, the class of factorable strongly \(p\)-summing operators, which is closely related to the class of strongly \(p\)-summing multilinear operators defined by \textit{V. Dimant} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 278, No. 1, 182--193 (2003; Zbl 1043.47018)]. In the present paper, the author proves a characterization of the class of factorable strongly \(p\)-summing operators in terms of its linearization and uses this result and known facts of the linear theory of absolutely summing operators to prove, in a simpler and more direct way, some results already proven by Pellegrino et al. [loc. cit.]. In addition, he proves some new properties for this class such as a splitting property and some composition results.
