The reviewer and \textit{E. Straube} proved the following result [Math. Ann. 334, No. 4, 809--820 (2006; Zbl 1102.32017), Theorem 1]. Let \(\Omega\) be a smooth bounded pseudoconvex domain in \(\mathbb C^n\) for \(n\geq 2\) such that a) the boundary \(b\Omega\) contains a nontrivial analytic disc, b) there exists a strongly pseudoconvex complex tangential transversal direction to the disc. Then the \(\overline{\partial}\)-Neumann operator \(N_1\) is not compact. The author generalizes the result above when the domain is in \(\mathbb C^3\) by relaxing the condition on the transversal direction to finite order of contact with two-dimensional complex manifolds. The author proves the following theorem. Theorem. Let \(\Omega\) be a bounded smooth pseudoconvex domain \(\mathbb C^3\) and \(M\) be a one-dimensional complex manifold in \(b\Omega\), the boundary of \(\Omega\). Assume that there exists \(P\in M\) such that the maximum order of contact of any two-dimensional complex manifold with \(b\Omega\) at \(P\) is bounded. Then the \(\overline{\partial}\)-Neumann operator \(N_1:L^2_{(0,1)}(\Omega)\to L^2_{(0,1)}(\Omega)\) is not compact.
