A Lie groupoid broadly generalizes, in a unified way, the notion of Lie groups, manifolds, Lie group's actions and many more. Indeed one can find Lie groupoids in many different situations as orbifolds, foliations, singular manifolds, noncommutative tangent spaces for mention some of them. Given a Lie groupoid \(G\) one can use its multiplicative structure to construct operator algebras. One of the most productive and studied examples in the last two decades have been the algebras of pseudodifferential operators naturally associated to a Lie groupoid, these algebras have been extensively used in geometric analysis and index theory, they appear naturally as microlocalization of the naturally associated algebras of differential operators defined from the Lie algebroids (whose sections give a rich source of geometric vector fields codifying different geometries). In the article under review, the authors develop a calculus of Fourier integral \(G\)-operators (FIOs) for a Lie groupoid \(G\). To define FIOs on general Lie groupoids, pseudodifferential operators give a stimulating example, indeed these are (or can be given as) \(G\)-operators given by Lagrangian distributions on \(G\) subordinate to \(A^*G\subset T^*G\), the dual of the Lie algebroid (i.e. the dual to the normal bundle of the embedding of the units of the groupoid into the groupoid). For the general case the authors study Lagrangian conic submanifolds of the symplectic groupoid \(T^*G\), this includes their product, transposition and inversion. Once the FIOs operators defined they explore the following very interesting and important points: -- existence of an adjoint, -- principal symbol, -- composition, -- module structure over the algebra of pseudodifferential operators, -- Egorov's Theorem, and -- \(C^*-\)continuity (as replacement for ordinary \(L^2-\)continuity). Fourier integral operators has been extended beyond the case of ordinary manifolds by many authors, the calculus of FIOs developed in this paper is not only a generalization of known constructions; it also explains and illuminates the geometrical aspects of the existing calculi. The composition theorem for FIOs on groupoids proved in this paper supports this point. In the last section of the paper, they develop a very interesting example, the FIOs calculus in the case of manifolds with boundary by using the so called \(b\)-groupoid and they do a comparison with the results developed in this case mainly by R. Melrose.
