The following two theorems are the main results of this fundamental work. Theorem 1. There exists a \(C^3\)-neighbourhood of the space of Zoll contact forms on the three-sphere \(S^3\) such that \[ T_{\min}(\alpha)^2\le\mathrm{vol}(S^3,\alpha\wedge d\alpha)\text{ for }\forall\alpha\subset\mathcal{A}, \] with equality holding precisely in the case when the form \(\alpha\) is Zoll. Theorem 2. For every neighbourhood \(\mathcal{R}\) of the flow of \(R_{\alpha_0}\) in the \(C^0_{\text{loc}}(R\times S^3,S^3)\)-topology there exists a contact form \(\alpha\) on \(S^3\) which is smoothly isotopic to \(\alpha_0\) such that the flow of \(R_\alpha\) belongs to \(\mathcal{R}\) and \[ T_{\min}(\alpha)^2> \mathrm{vol}(S^3,\alpha\wedge d\alpha). \] Moreover, for every \(c>0\) there exists a contact form \(\alpha\) on \(S^3\) which is smoothly isotopic to \(\alpha_0\) and such that \[ T_{\min}(\alpha)^2\ge c\mathrm{vol}(S^3,\alpha\wedge d\alpha). \] (Here \(T_{\min}(\alpha)\) is the minimum over all periods of the orbits of the Reeb flow of \(\alpha\).) Some important consequences of these results are presented and discussed.
