The author presents questions and conjectures that occurred in his previous work. Basically, they are open problems relating smoothness to the rate of approximation. The framework of the technical problems is carefully described. For each problem the known results are presented with the corresponding references. Then conjectures are formulated and possible applications are indicated. The Cesàro summability of orthogonal expansion is an important tool in these investigations. The approximation on various domains is considered and the titles of the sections give an idea about these domains: The Jackson inequality on the sphere, The unit ball \(B^d\), The simplex and other polytopes, Other domains, Hyperboloids. Other sections are devoted to Freud and Gaussian weights, Nikolskii inequality and Christoffel function, Bernstein inequality for fractional trigonometric polynomials in \(L_p,\;p > 0\). Certainly the paper will stimulate further research in this area. In fact, at the end of the Introduction the author says: ``I hope some mathematicians will pursue the questions mentioned here and that I will see the proof of some of the conjectures. I am curious to see (but doubt) counter examples to some of the conjectures given in this article.''
