Let \(F\) be a non-archimedean local field, and let \(\mathcal{H}\) be a connected algebraic reductive group over \(F\). The local Langlands correspondence predicts a relation between smooth irreducible representations of \(\mathcal{H}(F)\) and certain representations of Weil-Deligne group of \(F\). This enables one to transfer many notions and ideas from one side to the other side. Motivated by the work of Bernstein and Zelevinsky on smooth representations of \(p\)-adic groups, in this paper, the authors introduce and study cuspidal Langlands parameters and cuspidal support maps on Galois sides, which are, in local Langlands correspondence, analogues of supercuspidal representations and cuspidal supports, respectively. For this purpose, they developed generalizations of the Springer correspondence for disconnected complex reductive groups as the main tool. An enhancement \(\rho\) of \(L\)-parameter \(\phi\) is an irreducible complex representation of some finite component group \(S_\phi\). The cuspidal enhanced \(L\)-parameter \((\phi,\rho)\), is defined, roughly as the pair such that \(\rho\) cannot be obtained via appropriately defined parabolic induction. It is conjectured that the cuspidal enhanced L-parameters are in bijection with irreducible supercuspidal representations (Conjecture 6.10) via local Langlands correspondence. Based on this cuspidality, one assigns to each enhanced \(L\)-parameter for \(\mathcal{H}\) a Levi subgroup \(\mathcal{L}\subset \mathcal{H}\) and a cuspidal \(L\)-parameter for \(\mathcal{L}\), which is unique up to conjugation. This is the cuspidal support map. The authors conjectured that such defined cuspidal support maps commute with the respective local Langlands correspondence (Conjecture 7.8). They list many known cases of the above two conjectures. The authors also considered inertial equivalence of enhanced \(L\)-parameters, which leads to a refined structure in the space of enhanced \(L\)-parameters. This is can be viewed as the Galois side analogue of the ABPS (Aubert-Baum-Plymen-Solleveld) conjecture on smooth irreducible representations of \(\mathcal{H}(F)\).
