Let \(\mathcal{T}\) be a Hom-finite Krull-Schmidt triangulated category with a basic rigid object \(R\). Let \(\operatorname{pr}(R)\) denote the category of objects \(X\) which fit into a triangle \(R_1\to R_0\to X\to R_1[1]\) with \(R_0,R_1\in\operatorname{add}(R)\). An object \(X\) is called \(R[1]\)-rigid if \(R[1](X,X[1])=0\). If \(X\oplus Z\) with \(Z\in\operatorname{pr}(R)\) is \(R[1]\)-rigid if and only if \(Z\in\operatorname{add}(X)\), then \(X\) is called maximal \(R[1]\)-rigid with respect to \(\operatorname{pr}(R)\). The authors establish a one-to-one correspondence between the \(R[1]\)-rigid objects in \(\operatorname{pr}(R)\) and the \(\tau\)-rigid modules over \(\Gamma:=\operatorname{End}_{\mathcal{T}}(R)\). Under this correspondence, the maximal \(R[1]\)-rigid objects with respect to \(\operatorname{pr}(R)\) are related to the support \(\tau\)-tilting \(\Gamma\)-modules. In particular, this gives a characterization of tilting modules over \(\Gamma\). Similar correspondences, arising as special cases, were considered, e.~g., by Iyama, Jørgensen, and Yang [\textit{O. Iyama} et al., Algebra Number Theory 8, No. 10, 2413--2431 (2014; Zbl 1305.18048)], and \textit{W. Yang} and \textit{B. Zhu} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 371, No. 1, 387--412 (2019; Zbl 1456.16011)].
