The author presents a new, simple proof of the strong openness conjecture of \textit{J.-P. Demailly} and \textit{J. Kollár} [Ann. Sci. Éc. Norm. Supér. (4) 34, No. 4, 525--556 (2001; Zbl 0994.32021)]. In essence, the proof reduces to an easy application of the original Ohsawa-Takegoshi \(L^2\)-extension theorem [\textit{T. Ohsawa} and \textit{K. Takegoshi}, Math. Z. 195, 197--204 (1987; Zbl 0625.32011)] and an induction over dimension. Let \(\varphi\) be a plurisubharmonic function, defined on a neighborhood of a point \(z_0\). The openness conjecture states that the interval of integrability, \[ \{c>0: e^{-2c\varphi} \mathrm { is locally integrable on some open neighborhood of } z_0\}, \] is open. In dimension 2, the openness conjecture was proved in 2005 by \textit{C. Favre} and \textit{M. Jonsson} [J. Am. Math. Soc. 18, No. 3, 655--684 (2005; Zbl 1075.14001)], and the case of arbitrary dimension is due to \textit{B. Berndtsson} [``The openness conjecture for plurisubharmonic functions'', \url{arXiv:1305.5781}]. Let \(f\) be a holomorphic function on a neighborhood of \(z_0\). The strong openness conjecture states that the integral of integrability, \[ \{c>0: |f|^2 e^{-2c\varphi} \mathrm { is locally integrable on some open neighborhood of } z_0\}, \] is open. This was proven recently by \textit{Q. Guan} and \textit{X. Zhou} [Preprint (\url{arXiv:1401.7158})] by use of a more sophisticated version of the Ohsawa-Takegoshi \(L^2\)-extension theorem.
