\textit{E. Houston} and \textit{M. Zafrullah} [``\(\star\)-super potent domains'', \url{arXiv:1712.06725}, to appear in J. Commutative Algebra] introduced the notion of star (super) potent domain and, among other topics, studied the stability of the star (super) potent property when passing from an integral domain \(D\) to the polynomial ring \(D[X] \), in the particular case of the \(t\)-operation. They showed that \(D\) is \(t_D\)-(super) potent if and only if \(D[X]\) is \(t_{D[X]}\)-(super) potent. In the present paper, the authors generalize the notion of (super) potent domain in the context of semistar operations. They prove that, if \(\star\) is a stable semistar operation on an integral domain \(D\), then \(D\) is \(\star\)-(super) potent if and only if \(D[X]\) is \([\star]\)-(super) potent if and only if the Nagata ring associated to \(\star\), Na\((D, \star)\), is (super) potent, where \([\star]\) is the semistar operation introduced by \textit{G. W. Chang} and \textit{M. Fontana} [J. Algebra 318, No. 1, 484--493 (2007; Zbl 1136.13011)].
