The paper develops the theory of semi-Fredholm adjointable operators on Hilbert \(C^*\)-modules. In particular, it is proved that semi-Fredholm operators are one-side invertible modulo the ideal of `compact' operators, that the set of proper semi-Fredholm operators is open, and some other generalizations of the classical properties of semi-Fredholm operators on Hilbert spaces.
