Let \(\mathbb G\) be a Carnot group and \(\mathfrak g\) the Lie algebra of \(\mathbb G\). \(\mathfrak g\) is stratified as \(\mathfrak g=V_1\oplus V_2\oplus\cdots\oplus V_s\), \([V_1,V_i]=V_{i+1}\). Let \(\mathfrak h_0=V_1\) and \(\mathfrak h\) be the corresponding subbundle of the tangent bundle \(T{\mathbb G}\), which is called the horizontal subbundle. We identify \(\mathbb G\) with \({\mathbb R}^N\) via the exponential map, and call a line \(L\) in \({\mathbb R}^n\cong\mathfrak h_0\) a horizontal line. We suppose that a convolution type singular integral operator \(T\) with a 1-dimensional Carderón-Zygmund kernel is \(L^2\) bounded on horizontal lines \(L\) with uniform bounds. The authors obtain that \(T\) is bounded on \(L^p(\mathcal{H}^1|_{\Gamma})\), \(1<p<\infty\), where \(\Gamma\) is a \(C^{1,\alpha}\), \(0<\alpha\leq1\), regular curve and \(\mathcal{H}^1|_{\Gamma}\) the restriction of the 1-dimensional Hausdorff measure on \(\Gamma\). Here a \(C^{1,\alpha}\) regular curve \(\Gamma\) is defined as follows. A Radon measure \(\mu\) on \(\mathbb G\) is called 1-regular if \(C^{-1}r\leq\mu(B(p,r))\leq Cr\) for any ball \(B(p,r)\) with \(0<r\leq \mathrm{diam} (\mathrm{supp}\, \mu)\). Then a \(C^{1,\alpha}\) regular curve \(\Gamma\) is defined by the requirements that \(\mathcal{H}^1|_{\Gamma}\) is 1-regular and the associated Lipschitz map \(\gamma:[0,1]\to {\mathbb G}\) satisfies \(\gamma'(t)\in\mathfrak h\) and has a \(C^{1,\alpha}\) arc length parameterization. To prove the above \(L^p\) boundedness of \(T\) on \(\Gamma\), analytically, they use the good lambda principle and \(T\)1 theorem, and geometrically, they use the fact that \(\gamma(t)\) is well approximated by its horizontal tangent lines \[L(t)=\gamma(t_0)*((t-t_0)\gamma'(t_0),0)\in{\mathbb R}^n\times{\mathbb R}^{N-n}\] in that \(d(\gamma(t), L(t))\leq c|t-t_0|^{1+\frac{\alpha}{s}}\).
