The authors present an extension of Bose's method for the construction of Steiner triple systems. This enables them to produce Steiner triple systems with properties that do not result from Bose's method. The generalization requires the construction of a new algebraic structure called a 3-tri algebra which is of value in generating 3-balanced triangulations of the 3-oriented simple graph with \(v\) points in which each pair of points is joined by a positive, a negative and a null edge.
