    If one has an iterative procedure for the solution of \(n\) equations and \(n\) variables which yields a contractive mapping, then the successive overrelaxation (SOR) version of the method often provides an improvement. Weierstrass' method for the simultaneous computation of all zeros of a polynomial is considered in this framework. The paper contains an interesting list of variants of Weierstrass' algorithm.
