The authors consider a pair of Stuart-Landau oscillators that have different frequencies when uncoupled. The oscillators are diffusively coupled with possibly different coupling strengths. The authors first consider the possibility of the system undergoing a Hopf bifurcation and determine conditions under which this will occur. They then consider the existence and stability of phase locked solutions. They find that there are no stable phase locked solutions in the case of symmetric and weak coupling, whereas such solutions exist in the case of asymmetric and weak coupling. The techniques used are largely analytical, but the results are demonstrated with numerical simulations.
