A hermitian-symplectic structure [\textit{J. Streets} and \textit{G. Tian}, Int. Math. Res. Not. 2010, No. 16, 3101--3133 (2010; Zbl 1198.53077)] is a symplectic form such that its \((1,1)\)-part is positive. A pluriclosed metric is hermitian-symplectic if and only if it can be extended to a hermitian-symplectic form as the \((1,1)\)-part. The author shows that pluriclosed flow preserves hermitian-symplectic structures, and he extends pluriclosed flow to a flow of hermitian-symplectic forms by adding an extra evolution equation, which is determined by the \((2,0)\)-part of the Bismut-Ricci form. Moreover, the author obtains a topological obstruction to the existence of global solutions in every dimension. The paper is organized as follows. Section 1 is an introduction to the subject and summarizes the main results. Section 2 deals with some preliminaries. The author recalls some basic notions about pluriclosed flow and hermitian-symplectic structures. In Section 3, the author shows that pluriclosed flow preserves hermitian-symplectic structures and proves the short-time existence and uniqueness of solutions. In Section 4, the author defines a functional V and uses it to give a topological obstruction to the existence of global solutions. Section 5 is devoted to some discussions on compact complex surfaces.
