In \textit{A. A. Klyachko} [Sib. Mat. Zh. 15, 1296--1304 (1974; Zbl 0315.15015)] idempotents in the group algebra of the symmetric group have been constructed. Klyachko defined these idempotents as \(k_n = (1/n)\sum q^{m(\sigma)} \sigma\) where the sum runs over all permutations in \(S_n\), \(q\) is a scalar (parameter), and \(m(\sigma)\) stands for the quantity of all \(i\) such that \(\sigma(i) > \sigma(i + 1)\). It turns out that whenever \(q\) is a primitive \(n\)-th root of unity then the idempotent \(k_n\) is a Lie element in the group algebra. The paper under review gives an explicit expression of \(k_n\) as a Lie element. In fact the author considers a more general situation by studying multi-parameter generalizations of \(k_n\). He shows that under some natural conditions on the parameters \(q_i\) the resulting element is again a Lie element by producing an explicit formula.
