A space is almost discretely Lindelöf if every discrete subspace lies in a Lindelöf subspace and is \(\mu\)-sequential if every non-closed subset \(A\) contains a sequence of length at most \(\mu\) converging to a point not in \(A\). The two main results are that if \(X\) is an almost discretely Lindelöf \(T_3\) space then \(|X|\leq2^{\chi(X)}\) and that if \(X\) is a \(\mu\)-sequential \(T_2\) space of pseudocharacter at most \(2^\mu\) such that every free subset has closure with Lindelöf degree at most \(\mu\) then \(|X|\leq2^\mu\). Elementary submodels form a useful tool.
