The author shows that if the equation \(x^4+2^ny^4=z^4\) has a solution \((x,y,z)\) in a cubic number field \(K\), then the Galois group of \(K\) is \(S_3\). Moreover, for every integer \(d> 0\) there is a number field \(K_d\) of degree \(d\) such that the above equation has a solution \((x,y,z)\) in \(K_d\) with \(xyz\ne 0\).\par The result extends the theorems of \textit{A. Bremner} and \textit{A. Choudhry} [Period. Math. Hung. 80, No. 2, 147--157 (2020; Zbl 1474.14041)] and several other statements.\par The author uses deep methods from the theory of algebraic curves. Also, computations wit Magma are involved.
