The authors demonstrate the efficiency of the exponentially refined a priori mesh (\(H(l)\)) to capture the interior layer. This mesh was introduced by them in their work [\textit{V. P. Ramesh} et al., Int. J. Appl. Comput. Math. 4, No. 6, Paper No. 139, 15 p. (2018; Zbl 1406.65053)]. An upwind scheme on the proposed mesh is studied for a class of singularly perturbed differential equations with discontinuous convection coefficient. They give an estimate to conclude that the algorithm is uniformly convergent. A comparative study with other layer adapted meshes like \(B\)-mesh, Shishkin mesh and \(S(l)\) mesh is presented.
