In the paper under review the authors study the limiting weak-type behavior of the following strong maximal operator \(M_n\): \[ M_n(f)(x)=\sup_{x \in R} \frac{1}{|R|}\int_R|f(y)| \, dy, \] where the supremum is taken over the family of all rectangles \(R\) in \(\mathbb{R}^n\) with sides parallel to the axes. They introduce a new weak norm space \(L^{1,\infty}_{\Phi_n}(\mathbb{R}^n)\), which is defined to be the set of all measurable functions on \(\mathbb{R}^n\) such that \[ \|f\|_{L^{1,\infty}_{\Phi_n}(\mathbb{R}^n)}:=\sup_{\lambda>0} \frac{\lambda}{1+(\log^+ \frac{1}{\lambda})^{n-1} } \, |\{x \in \mathbb{R}^n:|f(x)|>\lambda\}| <\infty. \] Authors prove the limiting weak-type behavior of the above strong maximal operator corresponding to the weak norm space \(L^{1,\infty}_{\Phi_n}(\mathbb{R}^n)\) (see Theorem 1.2). Finally they also prove a similar result for the multilinear strong maximal operator.
