Monads in topology (Q2268851): Difference between revisions

The article provides a comprehensive survey of the role played by monads in topology. In particular it is shown that submonads of the ultrafilter monad create many topological spaces with interesting properties (e.g., \(2^c\) separable, Urysohn, countably compact, countably right spaces that fail to be compact or sequential), and that subfunctors of the filter functor create several interesting coreflective subcategories of \textbf{Top} that are closed under the formation of locally closed subspaces.
