The radial \(p\)-Laplacian considered is of the form \[ -(r^{\alpha}| u'| ^{p-2}u')' = \lambda m(r) r^{\alpha}| u| ^{p-2}u, \] where \(\alpha \geq 0, m(\cdot) \) is a positive continuous function and \(\lambda\) is the eigenvalue parameter for the boundary conditions \[ u'(0) = 0,\;\;\;u(b) =0. \] The existence of infinitely many simple eigenvalues \(\{\lambda_k\}_{k\in \mathbb{N}}\) tending to infinity was established in \textit{W. Walter} [Math. Z. 227, 175--185 (1998; Zbl 0915.34022)] and there are no other eigenvalues.The following asymptotic results are obtained: \[ \lambda_k^{1/p} \sim (\pi_p k) / \int_0^b m^{1/p}(r)dr \;\;\;\text{{as}}\;\;\;k \rightarrow \infty, \] \[ \begin{matrix} N(\lambda) &:=& \sharp \{k\in \mathbb{N}: \lambda_k \leq \lambda\} \\ &=& \frac{\lambda^{1/p}}{\pi_p}\int_0^b m^{1/p}(r)dr + o(\lambda^{1/p}), \;\;\;\text{{as}}\;\;\;\lambda \rightarrow \infty, \end{matrix} \] where \( \pi_p = 2(p-1)^{1/p} \int_0^1 \frac{ds}{(1-s^p)^{1/p}}.\) The results are also valid for Neumann or mixed boundary conditions at \(b\).
