The author studies the general two-dimensional mixed problem for damped Boussinesq equation in a disk with homogeneous boundary conditions and with small initial data. Using the eigenfunction expansion method, the author proves existence and uniqueness of mild global-in-time solutions in some functional spaces, and obtains the corresponding long-time asymptotic solutions. Well-posedness simply follows from the construction. Moreover, the author shows that the smoothness of initial data can be, in a certain sense, ``transferred through the nonlinearity''. Thus, the loss of smoothness no longer takes place in the general two-dimensional case.
