The authors consider the problem of finding conditions on a hypersurface \(H\) of a compact Riemannian manifold \((M,g)\) with ergodic geodesic flow, that ensure that there exist (i) a measure \(d\mu_H\) on \(T^*H\) and (ii) a density-one subsequence \((\varphi_j)\) taken from an orthonormal basis of eigenfunctions of the Laplacian, such that, for any pseudo-differential operator \(\text{Op}_H(a)\) along \(H\), the sequence \[ \langle \text{Op}_H(a){\varphi_j}\big|_H, {\varphi_j}\big|_H\rangle_{L^2(H)} \] tends to \(\int_{T^*H}\,d\mu_H\). The main condition is that \(H\) has a ``zero measure of microlocal symmetry''. Applications to hyperbolic surfaces are given. The authors also mention more general, later results by \textit{S. Dyatlov} and \textit{M. Zworski} [Nonlinearity 26, No. 1, 35--52 (2013; Zbl 1278.81100)]. For another paper of the authors related to this topic see [Ann. Henri Poincaré 13, No. 4, 599--670 (2012; Zbl 1263.37061)].
