In the commutative setting, new results regarding multiplication operators on function spaces such as Orlicz-Lorentz, sequence spaces, and Köthe sequence spaces have recently been obtained in [\textit{T. Chawziuk} et al., J. Inequal. Appl. 2016, Paper No. 52, 18 p. (2016; Zbl 1336.47027); Rev. Mat. Complut. 30, No. 2, 335--367 (2017; Zbl 1423.47009)] and [\textit{P. Bala} et al., Int. J. Math. Anal., Ruse 7, No. 29--32, 1461--1469 (2013; Zbl 1423.47008)]. \textit{L. E. Labuschagne} [Quaest. Math. 37, No. 4, 531--546 (2014; Zbl 1423.46088)] has studied multiplication operators on von Neumann algebras and their preduals, and between distinct non-commutative Orlicz spaces. In this paper, the authors provide sufficient conditions for the existence of multiplication operators between distinct Orlicz spaces and necessary conditions for the compactness of multiplication operators between the respective spaces.
