The authors give characterizations of \(S\)-paracompact spaces and study the relationships between \(S\)-paracompact and, among others, paracompact and almost paracompact spaces. Further, they introduce and characterize \(S\)-expandable spaces and study the relationships between \(S\)-expandable, expandable, \(s\)-expandable and \(S\)-paracompact spaces.
