    In the literature, the local existence of the solution of the problem \(u_t - \Delta u = f(u)\) with Cauchy-Dirichlet boundary conditions has been widely studied. In these papers, the right conditions on \(f\) that guarantee the local existence are analysed. Here, the authors consider the parabolic system \(u_t - a\Delta u = f (v),\) \(v_t -b\Delta v = g(u)\) in \(\Omega \times (0, T ),\) where \(a, b > 0,\) \(f, g : [0,\infty) \rightarrow [0,\infty)\) are non-decreasing continuous functions. The authors find what are the functions \(f\) and \(g\) such that the system has a local solution for every initial data \((u_0, v_0) \in L^r(\Omega) \times L^s(\Omega),\) \( u_0, v_0 \geq 0,\) \(r,s \in [1,\infty).\)
