    Let \(L_f\) be a Laurent operator defined by a symbol \(f\). The critical points of \(f\) are denoted by \(\kappa\). \(U\) is assumed to be a suitable unitary local perturbation of \(L_f\). If \(f\) satisfies some continuity conditions and if \(U\) is in a certain regularity class with respect to the operator \(L_f\) such that \(L^\ast_fU- I\) is compact, then the spectrum of \(U\) has locally no singular continuous spectrum and only a finite number of eigenvalues with finite multiplicity. Moreover, a limiting absorption principle for \(U\) holds on subset of \(\partial D\) which do not intersect \(\sigma_{pp}(U)\) and \(f(\kappa)\). The proofs of this results, which use regular Mourre theory, are developed in Section 4. As an application, the authors study the spectrum of GGT matrices.
