In this paper a generalized version of Helly's theorem given by Bárány is used to generalize other results originally based on Helly's theorem. The generalized version of Helly's theorem (also called ``multiplied'' version) states that if \({\mathcal K}_1,\ldots, {\mathcal K}_{n+1}\) are families of convex compact sets in \(R^n\) such that \(K_1\cap \ldots \cap K_{n+1} \neq \emptyset\) for each choice of \(K_1 \in {\mathcal K}_1,\ldots, K_{n+1}\in {\mathcal K}_{n+1}\), then at least one of these families has a nonempty intersection. Using this result Santaló's theorem on common transversals can be generalized. Also new results on affine selections have been derived.
