Let \(\mu_ F\) represent the Lebesgue-Stieltjes measure generated by the Cantor-Lebesgue function on the interval \([0,1]\). The author introduces a new system of functions on \([0,1]\) which is complete and orthonormal with respect to \(\mu_ F\) and which behaves like the Walsh functions on the Cantor (middle thirds) set. He proves that if \(f\) is continuous on the Cantor set (except for the countable set of points whose ternary expansion terminates in 2's) then the \(2^ n\)th partial sums of the Fourier series of \(f\), with respect to this system, converge to \(f\) uniformly as \(n \to \infty\). He also indicates how to carry out this construction for other Cantor sets with constant dissection ratio.
