A family \(S\) of subspaces of an \(n\) dimensional vector space with rank \(d+1\) is called a \(d\)-dimensional dual hyperoval if any two distinct members of \(S\) intersect in a subspace of rank 1, any three mutually distinct members intersect trvially, the union of the members of \(S\) generate the vector space and there are precisely \(2^{d+1}\) elements in \(S\). The author investigates the known bilinear dual hyperovals, namely the Buratti-Del Fra dual hyperoval and the Huybrechts dual hyperoval and the covering map \(\pi:S'_c(l', \mathrm{GF}(2^r)) \rightarrow S_c(l,\mathrm{GF}(2^r))\). It is shown that the Buratti-Del Fra dual hyperoval has a bilinear quotient in \(V(2d+1,2))\) if \(d\) is odd and that the Huybrechts dual hyperoval has no bilinear quotient in \(V(2d+1,2)\). Additionally, the automorphism group of \(S_c(l,\mathrm{GF}(2^r))\) is determined and it is shown that \(\mathrm{Aut}(S_c(l_2,\mathrm{GF}(2^{rl_1})))\) is a subgroup of \(\mathrm{Aut}(S_c(l,\mathrm{GF}(2^r)))\).
