Chern numbers of kernel and cokernel bundles. Appendix to ''On the Kodaira dimension of the moduli space of curves. II. The even-genus case'' by J. Harris (Q795119)

Let \(f:E\to F\) be a bundle map between complex vector bundles. Here it is proved a useful formula which relates the Chern numbers of Ker(f) and Coker(f) (on a set in which f has costant rank) to the Chern classes of E and F. The formula is used in the paper by \textit{J. Harris} cited in the title [cf. the preceding review]. A similar formula exists for symmetric and skew-symmetric maps: see \textit{T. Josefiak, A.
