Theorem: In \(PG(2,q)\), with \((q+1)/2\) an odd prime, every \(k\)-arc sharing \((q+3)/2\) points with a conic contains at most four points outside the conic. This number is reduced to two, when, in addition, \(q^2\equiv 1\pmod {16}\) is assumed. This main result of the present article has been stated by \textit{G. Korchmáros} [see Atti Accad. Naz. Lincei, VIII. Ser., Rend., Cl. Sci. Fis. Mat. Nat. 56, 541-549 (1974; Zbl 0389.05020)]. These problems were solved in two long papers by \textit{G. Pellegrino} [see Atti Accad. Naz. Lincei, VIII. Ser., Rend., Cl. Sci. Fis. Mat. Nat. 63, 33-44 (1978; Zbl 0399.51005) and Rend. Mat. Appl., VII. Ser. 12, 649-674 (1992; Zbl 0765.51008)] who mostly used synthetic arguments related to certain axial correspondences. In the present article, the authors give the proof of the theorem mentioned above based on polynomials and linear collineations.
