Vertical Toeplitz operators on the upper half-plane and very slowly oscillating functions (Q2441297)

The authors investigate the \(C^{\ast}\)-algebra \({\mathcal V}{\mathcal T}(L_{\infty})\) of Toeplitz operators on the Bergman space on the upper half-plane with symbols depending on \(\operatorname{Im} z\) only. It is proved that the generating set is dense in \({\mathcal V}{\mathcal T}(L_{\infty})\) and that \({\mathcal V}{\mathcal T}(L_{\infty})\) is isometrically isomorphic to the \(C^{\ast}\)-algebra of \textit{very slowly oscillating functions} on \(\mathbb R_{+}\). The latter set consists of all functions \(a\) on \(\mathbb R_{+}\) such that the function \(a(\exp(x))\), \(x\in \mathbb R\) is uniformly continuous on \(\mathbb R\).
