A code \(C\) is Hermitian self-dual if \(C = C^\perp\), where \(C^\perp = \{{\mathbf v} \ | \ [{\mathbf v}, {\mathbf w} ]_H =0, \forall {\mathbf w} \in C \}\) and the inner-product is the Hermitian inner-product. The authors study free Hermitian self-dual codes over the ring \(F_2[v]/ \langle v^2+v \rangle\), using the double-circulant, bordered double-circulant, and symmetric constructions. They give a shortening method to obtain Hermitian self-dual codes of odd length from Hermitian self-dual codes of even length. Using these techniques they tabulate the Hermitian self-dual codes with highest minimum weight for lengths less than or equal to \(50\).
