The author introduces an amalgam type space \(A_{1,2}\), that is, a locally integrable function \(g\) defined on \(\mathbb{R}_{+}\) belongs to \(A_{1,2}\) if \[ ||g||_{A_{1,2}}=\sum_{m=-\infty}^{\infty}\biggl\{\sum_{j=1}^{\infty} \biggl[\int_{j2^m}^{(j+1)2^m}|g(t)|\;dt\biggr]^2 \biggr\}^{1/2}< \infty. \] Let \(a_{1,2}\) be the analogous space of sequences \(\{ d_{n} \}\) endowed with \[ ||\{ d_{n} \}||_{a_{1,2}}=\sum_{m=0}^{\infty}\biggl\{\sum_{j}^{\infty} \biggl[\sum_{n=j2^m}^{(j+1)2^m-1}|d_{n}|\biggr]^2\biggr\}^{1/2}< \infty. \] Integrability results for the Fourier transform \[ \hat{f}_{\gamma}(x)=\int_{0}^{\infty}f(t)\cos \left(xt-\frac{\pi \gamma}{2}\right)\;dt \] for \(\gamma=0\) or \(1\) are proved. Theorem 1. Let \(f\) be locally absolutely continuous on \(\mathbb{R}_{+}\) and vanishing at infinity and \(f' \in A_{1,2}\). Then for \(x>0\), \[ \hat{f}_{\gamma}(x)=\frac{1}{x}f\left(\frac{\pi}{2x}\right)\sin\left( \frac{\pi \gamma}{2}\right) +\Gamma(x) \] with \(||\Gamma||_{L^1(\mathbb{R}_{+})} \leq C||f'||_{A_{1,2}}\). As an application, the author obtains conditions for the integrability of the trigonometric series \[ a_{0}/2 + \sum_{n=1}^{\infty}(a_{n}\cos nx + b_{n}\sin nx). \] Theorem 2. If the coefficients \(\{a_{n} \}\) and \(\{b_{n} \}\) tend to 0 as \(n\) goes to infinity and the sequences \(\{\triangle a_{n} \}\) and \(\{\triangle b_{n} \}\) are in \(a_{1,2}\), where \(\triangle a_{n}=a_{n}-a_{n+1}\). Then the series \[ a_{0}/2 + \sum_{n=1}^{\infty}a_{n}\cos nx \] represents an integrable function on \([0, \pi]\), and \[ \sum_{n=1}^{\infty}b_{n}\sin nx=\frac{1}{x}B\left(\frac{\pi}{2x}\right)+\Gamma(x) \] where \(B(x)=b_{n}+(n-x)\triangle b_{n}\), and \(\int_{0}^{\pi}|\Gamma(x)|\;dx \leq C ||\{ \triangle b_{n}\}||_{a_{1,2}}\).
