Let \({\mathbb D}\) be a unit disc in \({\mathbb C}\), \(F\) be a closed subset of \({\mathbb T}=\partial{\mathbb D}\) of measure zero, and let \(H\) be a selfadjoint operator generated by \(z\frac{d}{dz}\) in the Hardy space \({\mathcal H}^2\). The authors consider the restriction \(L\) of the operator \(H\) to the set of functions vanishing on \(F\), which turns out to be a symmetric operator with defect numbers \((m,m)\), \(m=\#(F)\). Self-adjoint extensions of the operator \(L\) are parametrized via the J.~von~Neumann extension theory. The defect subspaces of the operator \(L\) are proved to be reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces with the Hurwitz zeta-function as a kernel. The spectrum of every self-adjoint extension of \(L\) is calculated. The Friedrichs and the Kreĭn extensions of the operator \(L\) are found. Alongside with the operator \(H\), two other unitary equivalent realizations of \(H\) are considered and compared: the multiplication operator in \(\ell_2({\mathbb N}_0)\) and the operator \(\frac{1}{2\pi i}\frac{d}{dx}\) in the subspace of functions from \(L^2(0,1)\) with vanishing negative Fourier coefficients. In the partial case when \(F\) consists of a single point, explicit formulas for the defect subspaces and the adjoint operator \(L^*\) are found. A multidimensional version of the present model in the Arveson-Drury space is also discussed.
