The authors study the \(\beta\)-transformation \(x\mapsto \beta x\pmod 1\) in \([0,1)\) with a hole of the form \([0,t)\), of which the survivor set -- the set of initial conditions whose orbits never enter the hole -- is of a primary interest. They consider the special case of \(\beta \in (1,2]\) being a multinacci number and prove that, in this case, the possible widths \(t\in[0,1)\) of the hole for which no larger hole gives the same survivor set are precisely those for which no larger hole gives the same Hausdorff dimension of the survivor set. A complete characterisation of such values of \(t\) is provided. As a consequence, a Hausdorff dimensional equality previously conjectured by \textit{C. Kalle} et al. [Ergodic Theory Dyn. Syst. 40, No. 9, 2482--2514 (2020; Zbl 1448.11153)] is established in the considered special case.
